I don't really have much to say here. Mostly I was embarassed that the first google hit for my name is an Amazon review I wrote at some point and the next is a letter to the editor from my college newspaper four years ago.
I was born and, except for a few stints abroad, raised in Urbana, IL where my father was on the chemistry faculty and my mother was a librarian/web monkey at the University of Illinois. I also have a brother, Andy.
I went far from home to study engineering at Illinois, graduating in '05. After college I moved to Silicon Valley and worked somewhat briefy in technology. I moved to New York City in '07 and did some postbac/graduate work at Columbia.
Recently I've been living in Washington DC which I am rather partial to. For money I write credit risk and fraud models for large banks and insurance companies. In my spare time I play tennis, cook and ponder a unified field theory.
